Anyone familiar with (holiday) airfares to Puerto Rico?

I need to travel from Charlotte to San Juan just after Christmas, over New Year's. The flights I want are currently ~$1100pp, which Google Flights says is "typical". Is that right? Do I go ahead and book, monitor the fare, and claim a credit for the difference if it drops? Or is it likely to drop in the next ~10 months? I'm buying several tickets so any insight is appreciated.

Looks like Dec 26th, 27th and 28th are almost double the price vs the 30th. Can you depart on the 30th?

No, unfortunately. Our travel dates are fixed. We booked a cruise that leaves San Juan on the 27th and returns on the 3rd. Need to be home for Christmas Day and back at work on the 4th.

My experience with anything south of the US that's tropical over Christmas is you're gonna pay. I'd consider waiting or purchase a refundable fare or be comfortable with credits and keep checking for price drops and rebook. There are even apps now that will do the rebooking for you automatically.

Which one is your favorite? I've gone ahead and purchased the tickets, and it would be good for an app to automatically monitor for price reductions and rebook.

I haven't used one personally. I need to dip into it but I'm usually pretty lucky getting a mileage seat.
Here's a review of one, and you can search for others.

You are in a fortress hub for AA and Christmas is a heavy travel week.
Unfortunately, you are not going to see anything much below the $1100 you are seeing Delta and United are double and you would have a connection.
Even departing out of Miami which is their Caribbean gateway is $775.
