The Nakajima Ki-84 Hayate (?84 ??; lit. "Gale") is a single-seat fighter flown by the Imperial Japanese Army Air Service in the last two years of World War II. The Allied reporting name was "Frank"; the Japanese Army designation was Army Type 4 Fighter (?????, yon-shiki-sento-ki). The Ki-84 is generally considered the best Japanese fighter to operate in large numbers during the conflict. The aircraft boasted high speed and excellent maneuverability with an armament (up to two 30 mm and two 20 mm cannon) that gave it formidable firepower.

That meatball covering the seam between the wing and the aileron ruins the whole effect of all that detail work you did.

Just sayin

Liar.

It's just funny that you take all that time and go through all of that work to make it look realistic, and then just throw some plastic decals on there like a 12 year old.

That’s actually where they go.

But thanks for your concern.

Look at the gap between the wing and the airleron here:

That's missing from Vader's model because he just slides a wet decal on there and covers up that gap. He should at least cut it with a razor blade so that the decal follows the curve of the wing and doesn't just span the gap.

IOW, it looks like a decal and not like it was painted on there. Kinda ruins the whole effect. If he wants it looking realistic, he needs to learn how to make templates and use an airbrush.

Someone who isn’t as smart as he thinks he is because he’s “calling me out” for the national insignia overlapping the aileron, but what he doesn’t know is it’s supposed to do that. Thus, he’s showing his own ignorance a making a complete arse of himself in the process. It’s embarrassing.

IMO, yes. Otherwise it looks like that aileron would have trouble tilting down.

It's really best to paint them on. That way you also don't get all that clear part that encircles the decal, and all the rivets and seams can be seen.

I use a decal solvent on mine but I do agree that painting them always looks better.

Darth, do you use anything to soften the decals?

I actually intended to cut it but got sidetracked and forgot. Only takes like 2 seconds, just run your exacto knife down the seam

I use Micro Sol. Here’s an example of what it can do…
