I’m retiring in a few months and want to start doing fun stuff like attending one of the big car shows or auctions in another city. Years ago I went to a huge auction in Auburn, Indiana with 5000 cars and it was a blast. Which one would the OT attend?

I’ve been told Amelia Island is outstanding, haven’t been.

Looked it up -

Amelia Island Car Event

Thanks. That one looks pretty cool. Too bad I won’t be retired by then and will have a regional meeting to attend that week. Maybe next year.

Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale for sure. Wrap in golf and that's one hell of a long weekend.

Congrats on your pending retirement….i retired about a year ago and love it. My best years yet!

To answer your question….i would have to attend the Barret-Jackson at a minimum, just to say I did it!

Amelia, Pebble Beach, Hershey, Carlisle are just a few. The smaller ones can be a great time as well.

Amelia Island and Pebble Beach are top notch for the concours cars. You get to see the best of the best.

For the largest number of cars, Mecum in Kissimmee, FL

For the largest number of really nice cars, Barrett-Jackson in either Scottsdale, AZ or West Palm Beach, FL

For the nicest cars, either Amelia Island, FL or Monterey, CA.

This is correct in terms of public shows and auctions. Monterrey is the show\auction I haven't been too, but I've been told it's the West Coast version of Amelia Island. Also, Good Guys puts on a really good car show as well. They have shows throughout the U.S.

I’ve been here a couple of times and it’s a nice way to escape the dreadful summers in the South with very nice people.

While Mecum has a spot at the Daytona Turkey Run I believe they quit doing the auction. However there is the car corral where over 1,500 custom cars, hot rods are for sale. it is inside the Daytona International Speedway and runs for 4 days. There are some very impressive cars, they have engine builders, car kits, swap meet, a good 2 days to walk everything. They have the Spring show but it is quite smaller.
