JW Marriott Desertridge Resort and Spa in Scottsdale/North Phoenix

Wife (no pics) has a work awards banquet trip to this hotel in March. Any must do's in and around that area? We are there 4 days

Stayed there for a weekend with my kids, but definitely enjoy the little water park they have while you're waiting on her to be done with the conference stuff.

Headed out that way in April with the family but staying at a different area resort
Plan to do lots of pool time, but also Phoenix zoo and some hikes. Maybe Camelback (definitely recommended if only adults), Superstition mountains +/- ghost town, and day trip to Sedona.

it's in a suburban area surrounded by a giant shopping center, but there's stuff to do at the hotel (like the water park another poster mentioned).
closest trails are going to be the ones at reach 11 but those aren't especially nice. phoenix sonoran preserve north isn't far and is worth the hike. in the other direction towards scottsdale there are also trails worth hitting (brown's ranch, mcdowell sonoran preserve, etc). camelback is a climb and will be crowded, but i guess is the iconic hike. a little further south the trails in and around dreamy draw will be less crowded and just as good. lots of trailheads to access.
another poster mentioned the phoenix zoo, but if you're used to the audubon zoo in new orleans it will be a huge letdown. desert botanical garden is a much better bet and more impressive IMO.
desert ridge isn't in a bad spot - you're at the intersection of the 51 (which will take you south back toward town) and the 101 (which will drop you into south scottsdale), with easy access to 17 if you decide to head north to sedona.

its easily one of the top golf destinations in the country, plus you have MLB spring training in the area.

Yeah, I'd particularly suggest the botanical gardens during March, as most everything should be in bloom during that time period and will be very pretty.
And as mentioned the Sedona area is worth visiting. Cottonwood/Cornville right next door to Sedona is some good wine tasting and Jerome right up the road is a cool mountain/ old mining town.
