wow.
that is one first class facility. crews were everywhere and there will be lots of little things not done for tomorrow night but it's so incredibly impressive i didn't really notice those things. there have been complaints about the exposed beams next to the suites. honestly, when i was there it didn't bother me one bit. the entire facility is so impressive, those kinds of things just blend into the overall structure.
my friend didn't seem optimistic that there would be chairbacks throughout any time soon, but, you never know. the idea of a berm is fading. bleachers are more likely.
the player's areas (indoor batting cage, locker room, lounge, meeting room) are excellent. there's going to be a pitcher's mound in the batting cage building which i thought was cool. otherwise, several players were taking bp and looking sharp, including chad jones who is physically very impressive. got to meet jared mitchell who was very cool and upbeat about baseball season. louis coleman might get my vote for favorite person on the team. just about the nicest person you could meet. btw, i saw some leather chairs with lsu embroidery that fans would drool over. i believe denicola was the name of the person responsible.
if you have purple seats, you will be pleased. comfortable and awesome view.
the view from the concourse is very cool. it will be fun to stand up there every now and then. it's expansive and seems like it will be very servicable.
there will be an arcade in the future. another great touch. the play area is done well. should be very functional for kids.
the suites are nice but the view from the outside seats of the suites is stunning. it has a major league feel to it. reminded me of the ballpark in arlington. the suites will be accessible to owners during football season which i thought was interesting.
the scoreboard is impressive and yes, the clock was going up right underneath the name at the top.
the overall look and feel of the park, inside and out, is absolutely first rate and professional. it looks like a nice triple a park. it does not at all seem like a college facility. i kept telling my friend that i have scrutinized pics for scar, ole miss, ark and this park is definitely more impressive because of it's professional look. my friend has been in and around ark (and all the others) as a member of the lsu baseball staff and likes the new box better. i have been to plainsman with it's quaint and intimate setting but the box towers over it.
that is all.

Thanks for the good report. I'm excited to be there tomorrow.
Do you mean the scoreboard clock will be up by tomorrow?

I don't know if they laid down the grass yet, but yesterday we started taking the grass from the old box to new and they were suppose to lay it down around the playgrounds and what not
I think it's pretty nice, good grass to
did you see it?

Drove by the box tonight, the clock is all set up. They have all the lights on and are installing the flag poles behind the hitter's eye as we speak. Looks as if they'll be working well into the night to get that thing finished.

nope, I'm serious, I work for athletic facility maintenance, student worker, you'll see me on the field tomorrow pre-game probably with the glamorous job of holding up the water hose so it doesn't touch the infield clay (and other stuff)
I just wasn't sure if they finished that today or not(I think it was the contractors not LSU that laid it)

quote:i didn't inspect the sod but it did look good. in fact, i would say it looked so good that it caught my attention despite all the other huge, bright, shiny things all around. good job brother!
