Brandon Sanderson’s Cosmere lands deal with Apple Tv

Saying Sanderson will have an unprecedented level of control. Assuming Apple had to pay out the arse for it. IMDb reporting too.

Sanderson probably took less upfront from Apple...way less...to maintain that level of control.
He has said many times that he has had offers that have come extremely close but that was the sticking point. He has said he does not want what has happened to other series to happen with his, and if he does, he wants it to be his fault.

Only negative is I hope this doesn’t kill his writing output. Only natural to assume it will slow but we’re all too aware of the other famous sci-fi author who got two big once his stuff got on tv (Sanderson is not George but still)

This is the only way it's successful IMO. If everything works out, we could be talking about Stormlight on the same level as Game of Thrones.

Henry Cavil has lobbied Brandon for Kaladin in the past and Brandon told him he was too old and not Asian.
I could see Cavil as Kelsier or Wax. That would be great.
I think they have to go with an unknown for Hoid given that he appears so often across platforms.
The girl that played Elayne on WOT would be a good Shallan.
All of the Alethi casting is going to be hard because you need all Asian actors but they can't have Asian accents unless they all do. Is Simu Liu too old to play Adolin?

Adolin is only half Alethi, so unless that part is kinda ignored, Simu Liu would also not fit the character description.

Also, apparently a few years ago Brandon said that if he was casting Mistborn he would gender swap at least one of Kelsier's crew, possibly Ham, as for the screen its way too male centric.

It already is. On twitter you have people absolutely melting when anyone suggests an even vaguely white actor for any role. One dude was even campaigning for "actors of color" for Szeth, the literally only overtly caucasian character.
Its going to be totally nuts when someone like Shallan is straight up white.
And on the flipside when Ham is cast as a black woman people are going to freak

I mean my argument is always going to be if the creator of the source content is heavily involved and is cool with it, then I'm cool with it. It's their content to dictate.
It's something I've seen with Bridgerton. People wailing about character changes/story line changes from the books, but Julia Quinn is !00% on board with it.

Sometimes authors are "ok with it" but not really, they just feel forced to pretend they are.
But this came from BS several years ago before this deal was even a glint in his eye, so if its directly from him, he knows better than anyone
