Germany has just surrendered, Let's say the USA decided to attempt to push the soviets out of eastern Europe as Patton had suggested. I don't think they could have done it with conventional weapons but I'd like to hear the opinions here. There were too many soviets and they had an endless supply to replace them with. Discuss.

I can't really say how it would have gone, but I can say that Russia would have had a hard time keeping their troops supplied in winter in a time of war.

There were 11 million soviet troops in europe vs 4-5 million US/UK troops. US supply lines were stretched across the atlantic while USSR supply lines were much shorter. Even with US air power, I don't see how you force all of those commies out of europe.

A big ole disaster for the US. They couldn’t even beat the Chinese in Korea.

I've read it suggested that the Soviets were about at supplies' end. I feel with all allied support, the job could have been done. It should have.

The US Army in '45 would have absolutely destroyed the Red Army. Between our Time-On-Target artillery capabilities, proximity fused AA fire, strategic bombing , command and control, and aircraft superiority it would have been a decisive arse kicking. And that's just the tactical/operational side of things.

Where we REALLY would have crushed them was on the manufacturing/logistical/economic side of things. People don't realize just how powerful the United States was in '44/'45.

The Soviets could barely feed their people and had massive difficulties getting supplies to the troops in the field. The US was serving hot cooked turkey dinners to troops on Thanksgiving and had ships just for making ice cream. Look at oil production figures between the US and USSR.
