As a national recruiting power, why is it that last year - when we needed a QB badly in the class - we never seriously pursued Pryor until he got interested in us late? ..all of our eggs were in the Manual/Crist basket and we whiffed badly on both

..and now this year we need big-time RBs in the class and put all of our eggs in the Richardson basket, and now we get in on Brown, the #1 RB late..probably too late once again

So you don't think Michael Ford, or Charles Scott, or Keiland, or Murphy, or Ridley, or Trindon, can handle the load until we recruit another set in 2010?

RB WAS NOT A PRIORITY with the depth we had this year.

We got some studs at RB and seastrunk could be a solid player to sign. RB was not that big of a worry this yr IMO

His bro showed interest, bryce did not

what more can we do?

Its part of the reason I don't believe brown's interest is genuine. Like you said we recruited his brother hard so obviously he was familiar with our program, yet he never camped or visited here. Then all of a sudden after NSD he suddenly remembers us?

When you complain about not locking down another posible #1 recruit after landing a top 2 class........you aint doing too bad. Besides, RB position is not anywhere near as dire as it was with the QB spot.

......and the QB spot wasnt exactly dire considering we still had RP in the mix at that point.

LSU feels out every top prospect in the nation early on, they only persue the ones who are intrested in LSU.

T. Pryor never wanted anything to do with LSU, he just wanted to add them to list. Bryce Brown is only considering LSU now b/c :
1. We are a national power
2. We only signed one RB this year.

i also think it has to do with location. kansas and pennsylvania are quite a ways from BR. they show minimal interest early, and then we put more eggs in the closer, more realistic baskets

kinda disappointing that we have had interest in these elite guys, but got on them too late(for whatever reason). minimal consolation= kids from across the country are taking notice of our program, and eventually, we will land a big timer from far away.

overall though, coaches did a great job in recruiting. it doesnt always workout the way you plan, but sometimes you are lucky the "cant miss" prospect doesnt chose you (texas, perrilloux). hard to complain about the class we are bringing in

You answered your own question. What's the point of continuing to recruit a kid hard if he doesn't show interest.

Don't see how you figure we whiffed "badly" on Crist and Manuel either. We didn't get them but they were both very interested.

And if you think Pryor was going anywhere but OSU you are kidding yourself.

I'm more than okay with Jordan Jefferson and Michael Ford for our QB last year and our RB this year. I'm sure most Tiger fans are.

Not like it would have made a difference, anyway.

Crist was from California and Manual was from Virginia

he never said he wasn't interested in us at any point in the recruitment...as a matter of fact, he loved Miles when the two chatted Monday, so I don't see why this would all of the sudden be a revelation

I think we clearly went hard after Richardson and didn't press Brown much assuming he would follow his bro to The U ...but as soon as he started going cold on Miami and realized that Richardson was a Bama commit, why not go after him hard at that point? If he would go way out to Oregon he would come to LSU I would have to believe ...we could have gotten in seriously a couple of months ago but we didn't
