I wonder how he plans to erase the $2B shortfall?

This is what I don't understand. We have a 2 billion dollar shortfall but the government gives us 4 billion. I understand the argument for solidifying infrastructure, but who believes, between the the US gov and the La gov, this money will be spent correctly. I'd rather Jindal take the 2 bil needed and leave the rest. In a financial crisis like this why would the fed give out more then is absolutely necessary?

I love big deficit.

Because consumers are starting to save and they want us to keep spending even though it's obvious to pretty much anyone that overconsumption got us in the mess to begin with. They are trying to avoid a pain that can't be avoided and are making it worse by pretending.

why not just trim $2 billion off the budget and let the government keep their money?

+1

For the love of God, if you don't think there is this much overhead in government you are out of your mind. Cut $2 billion, tell the feds to kiss off, and let Louisiana hold their heads high above the rest of those feeding off of the federal tit.

How about the comment from that idiot Nagin. He said that he would take what ever money that Jindal turns down. Go figure!

because none of the other 49 states will be doing this, so Louisiana will be getting doubly fricked. It's a prisoner's dilemma

As WWLTV notes, New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin has said he’ll take any money that Louisiana turns down.

You make it sound easy to cut 2 billion off the budget

You make it sound impossible to cut 2 billion off the budget. An across-the-board cut of such-and-such percent for every department and division would be a walk in the park.

Shreveport will take that extra $2 Billion, thank you. They have requested $2.3 Billion, far and away the most in the state. It's 4 times more than Houston requested and Shreveport is 5% the size of Houston.

See the list here, it's sad... Shreveport wants it all

Yeah they would be better served to buy the 80 police cars. That somehow creates 36 jobs.

No wonder the rest of the country thinks people from LA can't do math.
