and only 1137 have "committed" elsewhere. With 19 names withdrawn. 5 days left and over 1600 players still do not have a home. I know some players are asked to looked elsewhere, but most of these are dudes looking for some money or thinking they can play elsewhere. Hard lessons learned when portal closes.

They don't have to find a home by the time the portal closes. The portal closing is only for people to enter the portal. They can sit there for months looking for a new place to play.

Lots of bad advice from people looking to exploit these players for personal financial gain. In 5 years, they won’t give a shite about Darnell from San Jose State who got stuck in the portal without a landing spot. Sucks for the kids who don’t know any better.

Maybe this will self correct. Perhaps when dust settles, some may not find a chair, many others may be worse off.

Maybe agents in future tell kids of the real risks: not everyone improves their position.

It’s still amazing how many people don’t understand how the portal works. There is no deadline to sign but overplaying their hand would risk not having the landing spot they seek.

Correct. There is no deadline to sign. However those pesky college classes are starting soon. Football players still have to attend classes, even remotely. They have to enroll, move into housing, all the fun stuff.
All those guys in the portal will have to pay their way now if they don’t find a spot.

Every portal player is not chasing money. Some actually want to play football

I’m not referring to the players specifically. It’s the agents and occasionally family members advising them to jump in and test the market. The agent pool is so watered down with people who have no business advising animals, much less people.

I hope so. We simply can’t have this every year and have any enjoyment.

It takes til game 4 to figure out who’s on the team.

They can keep taking classes at their current university to stay eligible and try to find a place to transfer in May.

Part of the problem are bad agents that tell the kids they have deals lined up that do not really exist. The agents get mad and pressure the kids if they don't enter the portal. There are also lots of conflicts of interest with agencies representing both players and coaches or connecting deals for multiple players without telling them.

Love that the people bitching about the portal know nothing about the portal.

I have no sympathy for any of them who enter the portal and then do not find another team. They all had a free ride and it wasn’t good enough for them. Pure greed.
