Aside from the obvious, having Kiffin, his offense averaged over 30 points per game our defense gave up an average of 19.8 points per game. Granted there will be somewhat different personnel but The track record is there for everyone to see regarding Kiffin and Baker.

Maybe, maybe not

His offense is in fast mode...they don't waste time....so that means they run a lot more plays on both sides of the ball....which leads to potential more points given up by the defense....

From what I understand, the offense is designed to help the defense also.

I get the optimism but that’s an extremely simplistic way of looking at it

I'm just going to throw this out there. If the defense is on the field for more plays then the odds are they give up more points. Not saying this is bad. But if you normally run 50 plays on defense, and find yourself starting to be out there 70 plays a game...you will give up more points. Slowing the game down (i.e., possessions) works the opposite. Again, didn't say it was bad.

They don’t run tempo by default, it’s just a situational wrinkle.

they had a top scoring defense the year they had a ton of talent so it’s not like his offense always kills the defense

he changes tempo more than the classic Baylor offense that influenced him

I’m thinking it’s going to take a year or so to get things where Kiffen wants it. We will see some positive results this season but may not see a huge difference.

Ole Miss average TOP was 29:37 per game…basically a 50/50 split with the opposition.

So both teams seeing similar play counts while ours will be conditioned to do so. The other team probably not so much.

I doubt the time lost from scoring too fast will tire out our defense as much as all the 3-n-outs we've become used to this season....

Look, I hear the back-and-forth, but one thing remains clear that the three-and-outs we saw all year will not continue to happen
