LSU Visitor News:
Ex-Cincinnati QB Brendan Sorsby visiting Texas Tech today, will visit LSU immediately after. I expect him to decide between the two schools during the weekend.
Ex-NC State WR Terrell Anderson will visit LSU. Date of Visit TBA.
Ex-UAB WR Iverson Hooks visiting LSU on January 7-8th.
LSU Players Announcing Their Return Today:
Safety Tamarcus Cooley (Will be a senior)
More to come shortly.
Portal QB Commitments:
1. Drew Mestemaker following coach Eric Morris from North Texas to Oklahoma State.
2. Rocco Becht following coach Matt Campbell from Iowa State to Penn State.
3. Kenny Minchey (ex-Notre Dame QB) headed to Nebraska. (will replace Dylan Raiola, who is also in portal)
4. Cutter Boley (ex-Kentucky QB) headed to Arizona State. (will replace Sam Leavitt)
5. Colton Joseph (ex-Old Dominion QB) headed to Wisconsin.
6. Austin Simmons (ex-Ole Miss QB) expected to finish season with Ole Miss and join Missouri for the 2026 season. Has DO NOT CONTACT tag.
7. Kansas State QB Avery Johnson removes his name from portal, will return to KSU next season.
8. Washington QB Demond Williams Jr. agrees to new deal, will return to Huskies next season.
[IMPORTANT] Sam Leavitt officially enters portal with a DO NOT CONTACT tag. Destination currently unknown, but heavy Kentucky smoke today.
I would not be shocked in the slightest if he ends up at Kentucky, as it was reported that Oregon was an early team to watch for Leavitt.
Will Stein, Oregon's OC from 2025, took the HC job at Kentucky.
Non-QB Portal Commitments:
HB Caleb Hawkins joining his QB Mestemaker at Oklahoma State.
WR Wyatt Young also expected to follow Mestemaker & Hawkins from North Texas to Oklahoma State. He also has a visit scheduled to Louisville.
TE Benjamin Brahmer following his coach from Iowa State to Penn State.
WR Brett Eskildsen also following his coach from Iowa State to Penn State.
Ex-SDSU EDGE Trey White headed to Texas Tech.
Ex-Allen University (D2) EDGE Amarie Fleming headed to Texas Tech.
Ex-Kansas State LB Austin Romaine headed to Texas Tech.
Ex-Oklahoma State IOL Noah McKinney headed to TCU.
Ex-Oklahoma State OT Grant Seagren headed to Auburn.
Ex-Oklahoma State TE Josh Ford headed to Alabama.
Ex-Yale WR Nico Brown headed to UCLA.
Source below. This will be updated as day goes along.

Looks like Dilly's begging for money fell on deaf ears.

Hope the staff feels good about the Lisfranc. That is a very concerning injury.

Not necessarily. It only means teams aren’t allowed to contact him. It doesn’t mean his agent can’t keep contacting them.
While this usually means a player already has a destination worked out, it can also be used by the player and agent to conduct a private auction of sorts between two or three programs that they choose.

Appreciate the support. Will be continuing to monitor and post anything relevant throughout the portal window. Day 1 is the most exciting day since it is all new and fresh, but I'll be here every step of the way.

Didn't Whit Weeks announce returning for his senior season?

6. Austin Simmons (ex-Ole Miss QB) names Missouri as his only school to watch during his transfer portal
Interesting. His Dad gave an interview a few weeks ago that made it sound like he was open to following Lane. I guess that changed or wasn’t reciprocated.
This is a big red flag for Ole Miss. Simmons was their fallback plan. If he’s not interested in staying, then they are in deep shite if Chambliss leaves for the draft or doesn’t get his waiver. They will have no experience returning and be late to the QB recruiting party.
They are between a rock and a hard place. They really can’t put anything into recruiting QBs other than obvious backups while Chambliss is there and risk giving him a reason to leave after the Playoffs. But if they don’t, they may have little left to pick through.

Yes, everything listed here is strictly from today. (Friday January 2nd)
There is another thread somewhere on TigerDroppings where all announcements of returns are listed. Whit announced his return yesterday, so I left him off the list.

Smoke on Twitter about Leavitt to Kentucky
When it was announced this morning he entered with DO NOT CONTACT tag, that was the first I have heard about Kentucky smoke. I would not be shocked in the slightest, as it was reported that Oregon was an early team to watch for Leavitt.
Will Stein, Oregon's OC from 2025, took the HC job at Kentucky. If I was forced to predict where Leavitt would end up, I'd currently pick Kentucky. Would be funny considering ASU signed ex-Kentucky QB Cutter Boley today.

Will Stein is the real deal, imo. UK made a good hire for HC. Guy knows offense. Joe Sloan will be getting him lattes and cappuccinos.

Seems like Leavitt is Miami, Oregon, LSU.
