Here’s a breakdown of how each team’s opponents are set:

Six games against divisional opponents — two games per team, one at home and one on the road.
Four games against teams from a division within its conference — two games at home and two on the road.
Four games against teams from a division in the other conference — two games at home and two on the road.

The conference in the NFC you play is on a 3-year rotating basis, in the AFC it is on a 4-year basis. The team you play in the other divisions in your conference, as well as a team from a division you are not playing in the other conference (also on a rotating basis), is the team that finished in the same position as you (1st plays 1st, 2nd plays 2nd, etc.)
