More successful men also don't want kids/as many kids. Look at the graph in that X post and the stats for men. Then remember how skewed having kids is towards the poor.

Having kids is hard but extremely rewarding when you put in the effort. I believe faith in certain religions like Catholicism and Islam tend to lead to bigger families bc of the doctrine of the faith.
If people’s “religion” is of the world then the current world is telling them to look out for #1 and true success is how much $/things they have.

The slow burn of inflation compounded with visibility due to technology leads to wants that at some point cannot met without a sacrifice somewhere. Young folks are sacrificing family for comfort. I’m not for or against this, that’s their decision but I empathize with them because I’m sure things they thought possible might not be attainable.

I believe it certainly plays a part, but the older people have a fricking major meltdown if you even try to discuss it.
