Decatur Man Indicted on Attempted Murder of Off-Duty Officer — Decatur, AL — 2022
A Morgan County grand jury indicted Gregory Martin Hill on an attempted murder charge after video showed him involved in an incident with an off-duty Decatur police officer at the officer’s home.
The officer had approached Hill’s Jeep after noticing it parked in front of his residence; Hill later struck the officer’s legs with his vehicle during the encounter and refused orders to comply. Witnesses say the officer was pinned with the help of a neighbor until other officers arrived.
Hill’s indictment stems from a complaint that he tried to run over the off-duty officer, prompting the attempted murder charge. A trial date has been set and reset as Hill’s attorney sought more time to prepare.
State prosecutors allege multiple Decatur Police officers and neighbors witnessed the events leading to the indictment.
As of the most recent reporting available, court proceedings were ongoing and no verdict had been reported.
The officer should’ve shot him as soon as he didn’t comply
