Sorry if this has been discussed, but couldn’t we have avoided 2 first round rematches?

As i said in the game thread the committee should have done what they do in basketball and try to avoid gay arse rematches or conference games in round 1. Switch bama and miami and flip flop tulane and James Madison.

It was a terrible choice by the committee. It's incredible no one in the room was like hey guys, these teams already played each other this year maybe we should switch these seeds

I remember back before the conferences started expanding the NCAAT committee would try and avoid conference matchups until the elite 8. Then the big east got huge and they started happening as soon as the second round.

The bracket should be a 2nd round BYE instead of a 1st IMO. What it would look like assuming all higher seeds win. Reseed after Round 1.
Round 1:
JMU @ Indiana
Tulane @ Ohio St
Miami @ Georgia
Alabama @ Texas Tech
Oklahoma @ Oregon
Texas A&M @ Ole Miss
Round 2:
Ole Miss vs Georgia (Sugar Bowl)
Oregon vs Texas Tech (Fiesta Bowl)
Round 3:
Georgia vs Ohio St (Cotton Bowl)
Oregon vs Indiana (Rose Bowl)
Ohio St vs Indiana (Orange Bowl)
Round 1:
JMU @ Indiana
Tulane @ Ohio St
Miami @ Georgia
Alabama @ Texas Tech
Oklahoma @ Oregon
Texas A&M @ Ole Miss
Round 2:
Ole Miss vs Georgia (Sugar Bowl)
Oregon vs Texas Tech (Fiesta Bowl)
Round 3:
Georgia vs Ohio St (Cotton Bowl)
Oregon vs Indiana (Rose Bowl)
Ohio St vs Indiana (Orange Bowl)

I thought for sure they said at one point during the leadup to conference championship weekend that they explicitly were not going to avoid rematches and just seed by overall resume.
Kinda wish they hadn't lol...
