The Odyssey is a huge gamble and that’s why Nolan is a legend

In an era like today where old-school film companies are being bought out by corporations and creative directors are being kicked to the curb for daring to deviate from what the executives of these corporate entities want, Nolan has stayed true to himself. He could have easily sold out like hundreds of directors before him and gone on to direct unoriginal, half-assed, cookie-cutter movies for Netflix, but he didn’t. He’s one of the last directors in Hollywood who has a passion for filmmaking.
He doesn’t give a shite about how the film will do at the box office; the only thing he cares about is making a unique and original piece of art that audiences will remember for generations. It’s why films like Interstellar look better than 99% of the crap that comes out today.
To make a $250 million passion project in today’s world where so many high-budget films are flopping and more and more of the younger generations are staying at home to stream instead of going to theaters, Nolan has serious guts. Should the movie flop, it will be one of the biggest movie flops of all time.

They don't have a choice. Not everyone gets 100s of millions in funding for original movies.

The prologue is playing in front of re-release of Sinners and One Battle After Another right now

It’s not a gamble when Nolan has F U money built up. He even talks about how freeing it is having F U money.

I'm still not sure how I feel about Matt Damon in it but I'm curious to see.

I can accept this compared to Ellen Page. Da frick is up with casting a non cancer patient double mastectomy broad LARPing as a dude to be in this film? That’s a hard pill to swallow for anyone not named JayArrah and FewerKilos
