Lord, I'm fixing to get crucified on here, but I probably deserve it. All State financial services.

So you already know everyone here is going to tell you not to use an insurance firm for investments.

keep your investments and your insurance products completely separate. insurances are not investments no matter what they say

What firm would be recommended for someone who doesn't know anything about this? I'm self employed and would invest money every month.

open an IRA at vanguard
choose an index fund or two
set up your allocation preference
set up recurring bank draft every month
pat yourself on the back for a job well done

Schwab, Fidelity, Vanguard or even Robinhood (although I'll take heat for this). Read JL Collins' Simple Path to Wealth and if it makes sense manage it yourself. If you think you need help at least you have a baseline of knowledge to work from when vetting an advisor or picking a roboadvisor.

only thing about RH that makes me not use it is that they are actively and aggressively selling your data. otherwise, its an investing platform just like all the others and is probably even easier to use if you have discipline (avoid the gamification aspects)
