I still say that Dalton Hilliard is the most amazing and effective RB I have ever seen at LSU during modern times

He did some great things w/ LSU and for a short time w/ the Saints. I was a big fan.

But, I'll bite. Why has Auburn produced such an enormous stable of running backs over the years?

He was at one point the all time leading scorer in both LSU & New Orleans Saints history!

I actually have no idea. Just one of them things, I guess. Maybe it has to do with the fact that Dye was a "run the ball, damn it" kind of coach. So he made it a priority to build offensive lines that could play with the stamina needed to do that. Then he'd give the ball to one of the RBs 30 times a game.....and they would rack up a lot of yards.

By the way - any of you guys remember Sammy Martin? The great white hope from De La Salle who was a Tiger in the 80's. He was a blast to watch - he had speed too. A little trivia: in the movie Cocktail, there is a bar scene where Tom Cruise is talking to his Uncle in his Uncle's bar. On the TV above the bar in that scene is an LSU game where you can clearly see Sammy running the ball for a few plays!

And to comment on all of the Cecil the Diesel comments in this thread....I concur. He smoked AU one year for nearly 240 yds, and I just sat there thinking "this guy is unstoppable". What a shame that his head was a mess.
