Netflix is officially buying Warner Bros. and HBO Max in an $82.7 billion deal.
“Our mission has always been to entertain the world,” said Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos. “By combining Warner Bros.’ incredible library of shows and movies—from timeless classics like 'Casablanca' and 'Citizen Kane' to modern favorites like 'Harry Potter' and 'Friends'—with our culture-defining titles like 'Stranger Things,' 'KPop Demon Hunters' and' Squid Game,' we’ll be able to do that even better. Together, we can give audiences more of what they love and help define the next century of storytelling.”
“Today’s announcement combines two of the greatest storytelling companies in the world to bring to even more people the entertainment they love to watch the most,” said WBD CEO David Zaslav. “For more than a century, Warner Bros. has thrilled audiences, captured the world’s attention, and shaped our culture. By coming together with Netflix, we will ensure people everywhere will continue to enjoy the world’s most resonant stories for generations to come.”

What's funny is Zack was locked in with Netflix for a while, but it appears they've moved on from him

Paramount seems to think the process is rigged LINK

Lawyers for Paramount Skydance sent a letter to Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav, expressing “grave concerns” about the alleged unfairness of WBD sales process. The attorneys suggested the Warner Bros. Discovery board has “embarked on a myopic process with a predetermined outcome that favors a single bidder” — meaning Netflix.

If rebel moon wasn’t such garbage, just imagine what we could have gotten.
And I’m not even a Snyder bro.

The battle for the right to frick up Lord of the Rings. Netflix would be the absolute worst scenario.

Translation: We can't compete with Netflix money and Warner Bros is pretending to bring us to the table in order to squeeze more money out of Netflix.

So my question is: if Netflix ends up winning the bidding war, does HBO Max go away?

I don't want HBO owned by Netflix. Their algorithm bullshite shows are horrible. I used to like a few shows and the movies aren't that bad sometimes. There's this assembly line like feel to much of their content.

Funnier still is that if WB gets sold, Gunn will also be out on his arse.

EXCLUSIVE: A group of major industry players has sent an urgent open letter to Congress, warning of an economic and institutional meltdown in Hollywood if Netflix succeeds in acquiring Warner Bros. Discovery.
The letter was sent via email to members of Congress from both parties on Thursday from an anonymous collective identifying themselves only as “concerned feature film producers.”

Monopolization in any industry is not a good idea.

Which is cheaper than paying for Netflix and HBO. Consolidate them all for all I care. Tired of paying for 5 different streaming services.
