Don't sleep on Austin Simmons reuniting with Lane

Austin was showing promise especially bouncing back from early struggles against Kentucky. He brought his team back and won that game. Austin has a high ceiling, big arm, size, and IQ. If Trinidad isn't able to come to LSU, I wouldn't be surprised if Austin comes to LSU.

He came in vs UGA in 2024 and drove the field and scored a TD whenever Dart went down.
Lane beat Kirbys arse by 18 last year btw

Played poorly in his 1st SEC start, but it's hard to fault him too much for that - few if any SEC QBs are perfect out the gate. I think Lane is aware that Simmons has a pretty good ceiling. I'd love to get him and another guy to come compete for the job. Have been drooling this week over potential QBs that could portal to LSU.

Not sure why people want this guy. He couldn’t take the job back from a D2 guy and his year.

That D3** guy was pretty good. Scored 35 straight on UGA. Scored 34 at OU

A guy who spent the first 4 years of his college career at Juco and New Mexico State is about to finish top 3 in the Heisman. Clearly Chambliss is a very good player, whether he started at a D2 school or not.

quote:FIFY. Nice straw man argument though - much easier to make your point when you negate the fact that Trinidad has been sensational this year.
He couldn’t take the job back from a 340 yards per game QB.

The reality here is that Simmons was on a good team and his stats are worse than Michael Van Buren's who played on a bad team. He has more picks than TDs.
Remember the Nuss melts for his TD/Int ratio that was waaaaay better than that...

yall are missing my point. Which is he isn't good enough. He didn't win the job back because Lane knew he couldn't perform at that level or better. Austin Simmons is not a take. I know what Chambliss's stats are and I know that he is good. There's no argument there. The argument is that Simmons won't get it done. Obviously, there are better options.

You got to be a special kind of dumb to talk about stats for a first year starter who was injured in the second game of the season. Bless your heart.

You don't have a point. When you are injured and the next guy up performs at a Heisman level that is no bad mark on the injured player.

He threw two early pics at Kentucky week 2 during his first road start. Team went down 10-0 early.
OM won 30-23 in the end. Simmons isn’t MVb.

Van Buren is a second yr guy and Simmons' stats make his stats look like a HoF'er material.

Chamblis is an athletic kid who is probably 4-5 years older.. a few years down the road Simmons is probably a legit NFL prospect

Name 3 QBs in the country that would’ve taken the spot back from him after how he played in those games?

At this point, I'd rather have Simmons than MVB...but as a backup

I want Colton Joseph from Old Dominion.
