I was never excited about Kelly. Much of the professional media was hyped for Kelly, so I assumed I didn’t know enough about him.

This feels entirely different.

Maybe it’s simply because LK is a likable coach, but I’m not sure it’s as simple as such.

Lane has the potential to structure a dynasty run here at LSU. We’ll have to win it on the field but all the pieces are in place for it.

Who knows, really, but I haven’t felt this type of optimism since Saban won his ring.

Neither Les, Ed or Kelly felt like stars aligning. This does.

Kelly got the program out of the doldrums O had it in, but couldn’t further it

The media was split on Kelly. Some thought bc he was a winner everywhere he went and he could bring stability to LSU. Others never thought he would be a fit.

Lane is liked by the fan base he coaches lol. The media don't like him especially after this drama.

With all that said, I was very impressed by the PC. With what he said and how he said it it sounded honest and sincere. He is a competitor and wants to win. The fact he does not care about his salary and wants to know the money for the players speaks volumes.

Brian Kelly treated LSU like it was just another stop on his coaching career. Never got the feeling he understood how special LSU is nor de he care to try and find out. Just wanted to plug his systems in and plug players in. Kiffin feels authentic and real. He actually talks like a normal person, not a politician. If he can marry what he did at Ole Miss with what LSU offers, we could have a golden era on our hands.

Agree. I give Kelly credit for stabilizing things. But it quickly fell apart after that 4th down vs. Alabama.

LK has everything to prove but something tells me this is about to be a historical run. Not lightning in the bottle.

Kelly’s opening press conference was all about what Notre Dame wasn’t.

Kiffin’s conference was all about what LSU is and can be.

When Saban and Carroll both tell you “that’s the best job in the country” you take it.

100%.. it always felt like listening to a politician blowing smoke.

The presser today felt like a grateful, hungry coach.

It’s actually not so black and white. The media seems to actually love Kiffin while also completely recognizing his checkered past. Go listen to any of them talk about him. They’ll call a spade a spade with respect to his history but also talk about how much they like him and how good a coach he is

Time to assemble the avengers find a way to keep Blake from going to Tulane - bring in Ed O and let that man recruit and keep Frank Wilson and Corey Raymond.
It’s gonna be fun to watch.

Because he was a yankee who didn’t have any experience with this part of the country nor did he even try to embrace the culture. He just liked the status of the job

Exactly right, you could always detect B.S when Kelly was speaking. I agree completely, a hungry coach who is going to move heaven and earth to get this program back to the mountaintop.

Kelly could have won a national title here with a decent defense and coordinator Jayden Daniel’s senior year. Offense was unstoppable

This narrative needs to die. The top 3 candidates at the time were Riley, Napier and Kelly. Just because Woodward didn't go outside of the box and the coach he hired wasn't the coach he got doesn't make it a horrible decision. Hell, even in hindsight, Kelly was better than Napier and arguably better than Riley.

Bingo, he wanted no parts of trying to get to know and embrace the culture and the people of BR. Exactly, that title was what was most important to him. That and getting his rounds of golf in.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Kiffin has never led a team to even a conference championship game, much less won a conference championship.

Dynasty talk is very premature! People won't admit it now, but a lot of LSU were also extremely hyped about getting CBK and we know how that worked out!

I know a lot of fans are excited, but let's be realistic. Time will tell if LSU hit a HR or will be forking out another massive payout, because Kiffin has a very unique clause in his contract that states he would get a huge payout and it's not dependent on him finding future employment.

In other words, Kiffin can go sign another massive contract with another team or join a network and that won't affect his buyout.
