Right now they're just angry because they know this hurts their chances in the playoffs substantially.
But it'll set in later that their program as a whole is about to take a massive step back, right where they belong.

This + the fact that they had a legit chance with Lane to take that next step up the ladder and climb into an upper echelon of programs, especially if they won a natty.
But this was just a very harsh reminder that they’re still just a stepping stone program for most coaches.

I'll say this....same can be said for LSU.....if Kiffin fails at LSU. He'll never get another chance at a bigtime college program head coaching job with failing at Tennessee, USC and LSU. He'll be a 2nd tier head coach from there on out....a Michigan State, Wisconsin, Mississippi State head coach. And LSU will be sent back to the LSU of the 90's. Two big swings on Kelly and Kiffin and fail horribly on both and the program will get crushed.

He didn't fail at Tennessee or USC though.
He improved Tennessee and voluntarily left after one season. He never had a losing season at USC despite inheriting heavy NCAA sanctions. If Pat Haden wasn't so stupid and impatient, Lane might still be at USC.

Absolutely correct. The Louisiana Clown fanbase at LSU cannot understand that there is no magic potion. They seem to think that you spend 100 million dollars and viola, national champion merely by hiring a coach. So they tried that with Kelly. 100 million down the drain. Lane Kiffin has shown you all , exactly what he really is by up and just leaving his Ole Miss team before the playoffs. Do not be surprised if he is a bust, just like Kelly.

Exactly like that....hell, we got an Offensive coordinator that had 3 Super Bowl rings under his belt to leave the Patriots and come coach us....and how did that work out for us? LSU just gave a guy 13 mil/yr because he won some games at Ole Miss....lmao. Notre Dame is a National brand just like Alabama, Texas, Ohio State, Georgia. LSU will be Florida part 2 if Kiffin fails. Meyer won two nattys at Florida and Florida fans thought they were gonna be a premier job forever....now look at them....lucky to get Sumrall from a small arse school Tulane. Florida program has fallen on its face. As much as LSU fans want to think they will always be a premier job.....not gonna happen. Was LSU a premier job in the 90's?

Could always coach at Notre Dame where he would only have 2 tough games all season, which he wouldn’t even have to win to get the bye to the playoffs. There are at least 25 teams that would be 9-2 or better with that schedule.
