Let it play out with no ultimatums etc. No deadlines. Lane would have just kept coaching in the playoffs. Try and get lucky and go on a run and that make him want to stay. He wouldn't have signed anything official for LSU in the meantime which may have resulted in LSU backing away in time.

LSU's patience was key, but so many around here wanted to pull the offer. For who at this point? Sumrall? LSU did the right thing.
