Is Bama left out in this scenario?

I don't see how Alabama gets in with a loss period.

I think Miami would move into their slot with a loss.

As much as I hate them, it's kind of messed up if they get penalized for playing an extra game.

If BYU wins and Bama loses, they are out. Doesn’t matter what Duke does

I dont see how you dont reward BYU for beating #5 Texas Tech... who is a lock to make it regardless of win/loss. Have to drop Bama at least 1 spot to #11 with the loss is what im thinking

If BYU wins and Bama loses, Bama is out.

And that is the only scenario where Bama is out.

Why? None of the other contenders lost to a team by two touchdowns as bad as FSU.

As I recall, Bama fans insisted a bad loss should eliminate you just like it did for OSU in 2011 so that Bama could back door into the championship game.

Bama should have taken care of business if they wanted the SECCG not to hurt them.

Oh and that loss by OSU was in OT by 3 to a 6-6 team not by 14 to a 5-7 team.

There is 0% chance the committee drops Alabama out and places another at-large team in their place. It would jeopardize the future of conference championship games, and the administrators in that room won't let that happen.

Bama can only be replaced by an auto-bid. They can only be replaced by BYU.

And Bama would be in today, if we didn’t get to play in the SECCG. In other words, the loss in the SECCG would be what keeps us out, not the FSU loss. Thats the argument for keeping us in. I doubt the committee agrees, but that’s the argument (which is 100% consistent with what they both said and done in the past).

Yes....and it opens the road to a 24 team playoff where the likes of Bama and Miami never get left out.

Are you ready for December or January Madness?

Bama loses by double digits and Miami would jump them

Nope

The committee has penalized teams for losing conference champ games and let a team sitting at home jump them

Hell it happened in favor for bama once when yall sat home

It has already happened multiple times…

2017 for example

Heading into conference championships

Wisconsin 11-1 ranked 4(playing big 10 title game)
Bama 11-1 ranked 5(not playing conf champ game)

Wisconsin lost to go 11-2 while bama stayed home and the committee let bama jump wisky to make playoffs and wisky got left out

Not in a 12-team format. And the 12-team format is the reason the discussion of eliminating conference championship games may happen.

You are being purposefully obtuse, as usual.

A 4-team playoff and a 12-team playoff are not the same, and you know that.

The logic is exactly the same

They have allowed a team sitting at home to jump in over a team that had to play an extra game and then that team misses the playoffs

explain the fricking difference for a team being in the playoffs and only getting kicked out because they played an extra team while the team that jumped them didn’t

Bama 2017 benefited from exactly this with Wisconsin

Because there wasn't a discussion around conference championship games being "meaningless" back then like there is now. The committee will protect those games and not penalize the teams that lose. They already showed this by keeping SMU in field last season.

It is quite simple, which is why it's not surprising that you can't grasp it.

Alabama is currently 10th. The last spot to earn a potential bid. You're telling me they could lose and not drop in a ranking? I don't believe it.
