I celebrated my 75th birthday this past Tuesday. Lots of family and friends. They wanted me to tell them the best part of my day. Easy:

There are some formulas out there, but I moved up when I could not reach most par 4s without taking a head cover off.
It is more fun to score a little better.
At a new course, Most golfers should move up a tee. If you shoot your best score ever, back up one tee for the replay.

AMEN, why would I want to hit a fairway wood into every par 4. Golf is hard enough without it being miserable because you make bogie or worse every hole. I want a shot at making birdie and if that takes me hitting from the red tee's, so be it. 6,700 yards is about as long as I want to play from, I can reach most all the green's with a 7iron or less and have to hit a 7w or 5w on those over 450 and I like being able to have a shot at reaching the green in 2 on at least 1 par 5 and no par 3's over 220. It's just more fun to play.
