FX has ordered a series adaptation of Ubisoft’s “Far Cry” video games from Noah Hawley and Rob Mac, Variety has learned.

In addition to co-creating the series, Mac (formerly McElhenney) will also star. The series will stream on Hulu in the U.S. and Disney+ internationally. While exact plot details are being kept under wraps, the series will follow an anthology format like the games and feature a different cast and setting each season.

Another video game adaptation that has nothing to do with the games. Why do they keep doing this?

Why do you think it won’t use any of the plots from the games?

Sounds like they are doing exactly what the games do.

They didn't say anything about following any of the stories from the games. Sounds like it will be all original. I don't mind the anthology part, just follow the games.

These games can go all over the place. The key would be side characters and their casting.

Rob McElhenney changed his last name to just Mac? That's some pretentious Hollywood douchebaggery right there.

He talked about this in Welcome To Wrexham. Basically asked a few people to pronounce his last name and spell it. Most people couldn't. So he changed it to make it easier for people to say and spell.

I find that to be a convenient excuse for a personal vanity. His name is Robert McElhenney III. So he changes his traditional Irish name, to hell with with his father and grandfather, because other people can't spell it? That's dumb. No one ever gets other peoples' names correct, it's part of life. To me, it comes across as simply an ego thing.

If memory serves, his parents split up early, and he didn't get on with his dad too well, aside from pulling for the Eagles.

His mom is a lesbian, and has been with the same woman for a very, very long time. Don't think he has much affinity for his last name.
