I took my sons (25 & 19) to see it over the weekend. The 25 year old is a pretty big fan of Steven King's writing...so he (like his dad) had actually read the book and saw the first movie iteration with Arnold and Richard Dawson.

I have to say that I liked it. While it still had some deviation from the book, it was much closer to how King described Ben Richards. For those on the fence about it, I recommend checking it out. It isn't perfect by any means...but it is much better than what they originally made and much better than a lot of stuff out there these days.

We saw it. Probably not the most self aware film with all the “we hate capitalism” going around. Plus not much rewatchability. Every time the old Running Man comes on, I’m watching it.

Does it end like the book?

Yes and no. The ending adds a plot twist that wasn't in the book. Actually, that's the part that makes the book a classic, and one of the things I didn't care for in the movie.

Took my 18 and 16 yo to watch it and we liked it. Missed a bit of the 80s charm of the Arnold movie and the gravitas of the book ending but still fun and a decent moviegoing experience.

I thought it was remarkably boring. And I like Glenn Powell and Edgar Wright. The action scenes were not well designed and the whole movie seemed to be set at night for some reason.

Once again another remake of a classic from the 80s, was it the same story just set in a diff year from original?

Wife and I watched it yesterday. It was pretty good, we enjoyed it. I do think it's a forgettable film, unfortunately. I doubt I'll ever care to watch it again, and that's disappointing since I love Edgar Wright films.
