I am going to get destroyed by downvotes, but I don't think Kiffin is right move for LSU

I think his style of coaching will have our fans revolting, I worry he's going to react very poorly to the pressure in Baton Rouge, I worry he's going to get a huge payday and coast.
On top of that, he makes some in-game decisions that are mind-numbingly dumb (e.g. 4th down call in Norman), he has had 1 good defense in his career and it was elite and he had an experienced quarterback that is starting in the NFL as a rookie and he lost at home to a shitty Kentucky team.
Add in to all of that his immaturity (trolling on X), love of gimmicks like what he did to Ole Miss uniforms, and then chains and dunking a basketball on the sideline.
I just feel like Kiffin would flame out in Baton Rouge. We'd have a good offense, but never get over a championship hump with him.
If we do hire him, I hope I'm dead fricking wrong

Me neither
But
If it happens, I’ll support him enthusiastically

You are correct!

We’ve spent the last 4 years getting trolled relentlessly. I’m ready to be the troller.

Of course I will too. I'm not going to stop supporting any coach.

Disagree. A great hire.

If it is Kiffin, I hope Baker is retained instead of bringing in Golding.

Agreed. Baker has his faults, but I really don't think Golding is a good DC.
Elite recruiter with Louisiana ties, but that is much less important in the NIL world.

You certainly could be right, but he is not just the hot guy right now, he is the proven hot guy. You don’t take Ole Wish to a playoff appearance without some pretty good abilities.
If he flames out at LSU, at least they swung for the fences. How could you turn him down, go after DibboDabbo, and look at yourself in the mirror?

I could do without the drama and distractions inherent in a Kiffin hire. And I think there will be the incessant 'bolt for the NFL' that will cloud things.
FTR, LK has the same 'meh' vibe as did BK (albeit for different reasons).
But I'll pull for whomever we hire. AlwysATgr.

Everything you said is indeed issues with his hire. But realize, he has made improvement in all of those areas. Even the worst of them, in game decisions, have been cut back. His defenses have vastly improved, and thats more of an issue with Ole Miss than Kiffin imo.
Im not saying he is going to be another Saban, but he is 50 yrs old, same as Saban when he got here. And no one can deny, Saban had not hit his stride until he got to BR, and arguably, after he left Miami.

It's just a bad year for candidates, so we're going to make Lane Kiffin the guy we reset the market for. Seems so forced for a guy that is risky in my mind. I don't care about the money, really, other than I could see Kiffin coasting after that contract.
I'd rather a young hungry guy that has something to prove. Lane just feels like he doesn't really care, but that's just my perception. Hopefully if we hire him I'm way wrong.

Saban has legendary drive. Dude is a relentless worker and perfectionist. One of those types of people you know would succeed in whatever he chose to do in life.
Rare gift.

Agreed. We’re going to overpay again because nobody learned their lesson last time.

And Baker has never come close to having the talent to work with that Golding had at Bama. Baker has had less than 25 games here after taking over the worst defense in P5 and the arguably the worst in LSU’s history. And has it getting steadily better.

Lane has like two decades of coaching left and has leveled up Ole Miss into a consistently relevant program. Not that long ago they were only ahead of Vandy in terms of historical success.
You’re another idiot that thinks every coach should win every game or they suck I presume

Stop with your negativity! Who would be a better move by LSU?? You strike me as someone that has to visit the ER frequently for items stuck in your anal canal!

This time is different. Lane is a proven coach.

Kiffin would be a 50x better hire than Brian Kelly. So I don’t even care.
