It is a matter of Jim Henderson finding the money for his buyout. We lose conference revenue distributions next year and he’s owed a million dollar buyout.

We are not improved at all. Every Cumbie team has gotten a little worse each year except the record doesn’t show it because Conference USA is a glorified high school division.

They’ve been very respectable defensively

Their best player is the LB Fields out for the year, and punter.

I’m well aware of who is out as I watch this bullshite every single week.

Cumbie is a supposed offensive guru and we have consistently had one of the worst offenses in FBS since his arrival. He is statistically the worst head coach in the history of Louisiana Tech.

He can’t call plays. He can’t manage a clock. He doesn’t run the offense. He doesn’t run the defense. Why are we paying him a million dollars?

The only reason he wasn’t fired last season is because Louisiana Tech was shifting funds to prepare for a conference move.

I don’t disagree. I’m actually surprised his defense has played as well as they have. Offensive is a joke

Honestly I think La Tech gives him one more year to ease the buyout and see how things work in sunbelt. If he wins another game. If he loses out, I think he’s gone.

I would love to go into Sun Belt play next year with renewed energy and a new staff, but like the earlier poster said, money would have to be found for the buyout, not to mention the looming lawsuit filed by CUSA for the timing of the departure.

I think Henderson is going to find the money. There is an energy in the fan base that has not been there since the Holtz era.

You cannot enter the Sun Belt and get your teeth kicked in year one with a Cumbie led squad. You will demoralize the fan base and all that energy is gone.

I think we lose out and Tech makes the move prior to the final game against Missouri State.

There is no way Cumbie isn’t fired in 2 weeks.

At any other school, he would have been canned last year. 60 yards passing tonight from our vaunted air raid offense.

Huge mistake letting go of Holtz. Holtz could have spent all of his time on the golf course and fielded teams no worse than what we have now.

It is really mind boggling because I think Cumbie works his arse off.

He has got to go. The apathy for the program hasn't been this bad since Bicknell.

I was willing to give Cumbie time to grow into the job, but he is not showing any signs of improvement, and there is no basis for realistic hope that he will ever get there.

It’s time to cut him loose. $$ is probably the main obstacle to that happening.

Let’s talk about how he has picked the wrong starter every single season at QB

2022 - Names walk on Matthew Downing the starter. Benches him after one game for Parker McNeil. McNeil gets hurt, back to Downing. Downing gets hurt, turns to high profile true freshman Landry Lyddy. Benches Landry Lyddy for walk on Jack Turner.

2023 - brings in high profile QB Hank Bachmeier as a transfer. Benched him after three games for walk on Jack Turner.

2024 - Doesn’t bring in any transfer QB. Stays former walk on Jack Turner is his guy. Benches him after two games for freshman Blake Baker. Blake Baker gets hurt and turns to freshman Evan Bullock who starts the final 10 games.

2025 - Brings in transfer Trey Kukuk from California. Names him the starter, then names Blake Baker backup while the guy who started ten games last season with a 14-3 TD/INT ratio is third string. Benches Kukuk after two games. Baker tears his ACL. Now it’s Bullock again. Benches Bullock for Kukuk to run a wild cat offense.

Like what in the world are we doing?!

As an LSU fan in Lafayette, I would love for them to bring in Napier. All these ULL fans in Lafayette who hate LSU so much that they went out and bought bama flags and shirts and car stickers when bama hired Saban. So I would love for tech to come into the sunbelt with Napier and whip the Cajuns on a regular basis. I would buy some tech gear for sure

We are an air-raid offense with an offensive guru for a coach that can't pass the ball.

I’m not sure Napier can reproduce the results from his G5 days. ULL maxed out the credit card and he had an arsenal of assistants. Louisiana Tech (nor ULL for that matter) can give him that at this point. It was a competitive advantage over a lot G5 schools at the time. I think he is going end up at a place that can maximize resources for him.

I think Tech’s search, if it comes, will be quick. We’ll interview a few names but I think we will get a bit of a discount on Colby Carthel from SFA. Ryan Ivey, LA Tech’s AD, hired him at Texas A&M Commerce where he went 59-18 and won a D2 National Championship and then Ivey hired him again at Stephen F Austin where the results have been mixed (42-37 overall record) but has SFA in the FCS playoffs again this year with a 9-2 record.
