Will be heading from mobile to Dallas thanksgiving week to see family and such.
Looking for a decent city/town to stay in half way to break up the drive.
Would like to have a decent meal and maybe something cool to see/do while there.
Any recommendations?

There’s not much “half way”

I guess you could do Lafayette because your other options are Baton Rouge which is still like a 6 hour drive of Shreveport which is only two and half hours.

I considered stoping in br for a game , still might but that’s likely going to be a very expensive trip . Was thinking Vicksburg or natchitochs?

Natchitoches will have the Christmas festival going…

And you’d be going up I49 which always has much less traffic. Drive US 190 between BTR & Opelousas to avoid getting stuck on a bridge due to any traffic or potential wrecks on I10.

If I20 gets congested between Shreveport & Dallas, cut over to US 80.

Gladewater, TX has great antique stores if you like antiquing.

Looks like either Vicksburg or Alexandria would be about halfway depending on your route. While there are decent places to eat in both cities, Vicksburg has more sightseeing things including the all the Civil War stuff. The National Military Park is cool. There is an ironside boat that was removed from the bottom of the Mississippi River on display, and you can walk through it.

We will be driving from NOLA to Dallas after Thanksgiving and are staying in Nachitoches . We usually just do the full drive on one day but decided to break it up this time and I've been wanting to stop in the little town in St. Landry parish my Mamaw Rougeau was born in
