Thinking of going there next summer. Interested in offshore fishing, and looking for OB recommendations for guides, best summer month to go, and reviews of experiences. Thanks!

I would say it def depends where you are staying. I've been twice. Stayed in Tamarindo both times. Fished out of Tamarindo on the Rhino Charger once and out of Flamingo on the Wet arse II once. I would def fish on the Wet arse again. We went in summer both times. Go check out Wet arse's IG account and you can see what they are catching during different times of the year. Mainly sails, mahi, and tuna, with occasional Blue Marlin in the mix.

I fished on the Rhino Charger as well. Booked my first full day down there for a trip and the last day - spreading out in case one day was a blow out. Glad I did, first day was rough and windy. Only caught a few mahi. Second day went 10-12 on sails with my son and he caught a massive bull mahi. Great day. Rates were reasonable and the guys worked hard.

Bit further south, but have been twice with Quepos Fish Adventure out of Quepos Marina (was staying in Manuel Antonio both times). Once for Sails and once for Roosters inshore. Had a great trip for both.
Look at the fish caught by month for the areas and plan based on what you want to catch. Can vary a lot.

whatever you do, do NOT use nauti adventures.
went out mid quepos in august using them. it was the worse experience.
i can't take not catching, but the boat was trash, capt was rude and they cut the trip short.

Los Monos Charters at Marina Pez Vela in Quepos is owned by some BR guys. Had a great time with them and caught a ton of tuna and sails

I second going with Maverick out of Los Suenos. Newer faster boats, best captains around and you will catch fish. I've personally fished with these guys a dozen or more times and have never scratched. They will work hard to put you on fish. You will pay though, those guys aren't cheap. Best fishing that time of year will be inshore, go snag u of them big arse rooster fish. Like a bull red on steroids! So much fun. We always fish in winter time as summer time there is the rainy season. The Pacific lays down in the winter. Have fun amigo!

Maverick definitely legit. But Los Suenos is far from area you are staying. I’ve fished w them several times.
I’ve never been up around tamarindo area.
It’s like saying you want to fish Louisiana and people are recommending Venice or Big Lake (opposite sides of state)
