Head coach versus actual offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator

What does a head coach actually do (besides manage the game clock) during the game and oversee practice? If a real OC and Dc are calling plays, why are we paying all of this money to a HC instead of going all in on an OC and DC? They are the ones catcalling plays if they are legit OC and DC

Good heat coaches have their own offense, create gameplan, identify players that fit the scheme and some even call plays

They also don’t get hired away ever 2-3 years of theyr successful.

Using the GOAT as an example, Saban was very involved in practices, down to fundamentals and making players repeat drills until they got things right. You can probably find video of him screaming at players.

And everybody knows how involved he was during games, especially in his younger years.
