Qb makes a TERRIBLE throw.

Wide receiver makes an ELITE effort to secure the catch and td.

Media: urrr murrr gurrrrd the qb has muh HEiSmAn muhMeNT

I saw him make at least 2 great throws on that drive. Where only his WR could catch it, & they both made incredible catches.

Seems like Sayin is still in the lead after a stat-padding day vs Purdue

ETA: live odds
Mendoza +150
Sayin +225

Simpson +450

Yea the drive as a whole was excellent. I just think the hype on the catch will carry over long term when most of the credit should go to the receiver.

He threw a prayer off his back foot. Damn good catch. Team of destiny type stuff.

Mendoza damn near cost them that game til that drive. Held on to the ball way too much.

With that said, what a freaking catch

I’m not religious, but I am loving this recent increase in athletes and younger folks boldly bring up theirs.

I will never be convinced he wasn't throwing that ball away. WR bailed him out.

He drove his team down 75 yards to win on the road. Wasn’t just one play.

But it does remind me a little of Penix and that Washington run. A pretty accurate QB putting it up and WRs making every play.

Did Fernando Mendoza have his Heisman Moment on that final drive against Penn State?

He threw an extremely unclutch INT with 4ish minutes left in the game to setup the need for the late-game drive to begin with, so, meh.

Cool?

He was arse 95% of the game against a 3 win team with an interim HC. And then his WR may have made the catch of the season on the game winning TD.

Anyone with eyeballs that watched that game saw the same thing.

What was Sayin’s toughest test on the road?

Illinois?

Based on current rankings, Washington.

Sayin has 6 300 yard games. Mendoza has 1.
Sayin is currently throwing 80%+ completion %, which is 3 points higher than the record. Mendoza is at 73%.
Sayin has played one less game than Mendoza, but already has more passing yards with 1 less TD.
Sayin hasn’t had any “Heisman moment” because he and his team are putting belt to arse, even against 3 win teams, which Mendoza apparently struggles with.

Mendoza is a hell of a QB. Sayin is just simply better.

Indiana was 14.5 point favorites in this game. This would have been a colossal upset considering PSU was 3-5 going in, literally have not won a game besides rent a wins in September. So for there to even be a chance for a “Heisman moment” they needed to nearly choke away the game in the fourth quarter after being in control all day. Sayin played much better football against PSU. Didn’t need heroics to win
