Kiffin : Pressure to win at Ole Miss v Pressure at LSU

As it plays into Kiffin’s decision, or another coach at a “smaller” or “lesser” school than LSU, the pressure divide isn’t that wide. This is used as a reason to say he’d be crazy to leave Ole Miss, but it’s not an accurate narrative. Ole Miss people, alum, booster think they can be and should be Georgia, LSU, Alabama, Ohio State, Texas….
If Lane goes 8-4 next year, and starts out 3-3 the next season, his seat would start to simmer. Mississippi State would be patient, but not Ole Miss. Especially after they’ve tasted 10 win seasons lately.
If he stays at Ole Miss it’ll be because he loves it there and for money plain and simple. The whole more pressure at LSU or Florida doesn’t exist. Their fans are delusional, and will want him gone if mediocrity settles in for a season or 2.

We missed the playoffs last year, with the 3rd most talented team in the country, and his seat was still ice cold. This is just a bad take.

You went 10-3, missing playoff or not, that wasn’t going to warm things up. You guys will be getting out the lighter fluid if he goes 8-4 /7-5 in consecutive seasons. You misunderstand my post apparently. What got Kelly fired at LSU this year was going 8-4 last year, and starting out this season with 3 losses before Nov. “IF” Kiffin goes 8-4 in 2026, and starts 2027 out at say 3-3 in October, there would be some unhappy people at Ole Miss, just like there would be at LSU. Point is, you have to win at certain level wherever you go or you’re out.

Kiffin is regularly exceeding the standard at Ole Miss, he's under no pressure there. I don't know why he'd leave, he's got everything he needs there to be successful, by their measure. NIL has leveled the playing field; he can compete for championships and possibly even win one there. I don't get the sense that he has some burning, Sabanesque desire to win a championship. He seems content where he is, I'll be surprised if he leaves.

If Ole Miss keeps him this year then i would assume that means he is one of if not the highest paid college football coach in the country going into next season. At some point people are going to want to see results match the investment.

Kiffin could handle LSU pressure. If LSU really wants Kiffin they will get him

No chance in hell. Even the most myopic Ole Miss booster realizes Kiffin is their unicorn. From 1971 until he was hired at Ole Miss, they had 4 seasons with 9 or more regular season wins. This will be Lane's 4th regular season with 9 plus wins in his six years there.
I dont think people realize the shite stain of despair that has been Ole Miss football since integration. Kiffin could go 8-4 for ten consecutive seasons there and not get fired.
