Hypothetical - One day AI could gain much more trust and be used for policy guidance

Let's say it's the year 2035. AI has become ubiquitous in our lives and has gained a lot of trust from consumers and the general public.

At some point, someone is going to have the audacity to start asking major questions and running simulations on what the most effective trade policies, tax policies, or even structure of government is. It's unlikely that the results would mirror our current systems/modes of handling things.

If/when powerful AIs start telling us that what we're doing is counter productive do we act on those conclusions or leave things how they are?

In theory this could apply across all political domains. Crime prevention, drug rehabilitation, public assistance, infrastructure spending, national defense etc.

I am sure some AI somewhere will be used to try to resurrect the climate hoax.

Finally, we will revert back to Greek times where gods lived on mountains and we followed whatever their mouthpieces said,

Well the models should in theory get better but that's an almost infinitely complex system to model

It only lies some of the time, so it is already more trustworthy than a politician.

Sure

Probably worth noting that big finance already uses super computing systems so you could argue that a lot of society is already controlled by AI. Systems like Aladdin from BlackRock have been around for a while. And they've expanded their data center infrastructure the last couple years.

What do you mean by "one day"??? Our country dealt with AI out of the White House from 1/20/2021 through 1/20/2025. There was no real intelligence anywhere NEAR 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue for the entirety of those four years.

Sure...but at some point it's likely these systems will be drastically improved

That seems obvious

Why couldn't they do this now? How do we know they're not?
