Why wouldn't LSU want to hire Saban?

He's worth whatever he wants at this point. Set the terms very clear. 4 years max, then retire into the sunset. He will help us build competency within the program. Objective: build a competitor in 3-4 years, while grooming a successor. Very clear playbook. 20 mil a year. Still cheaper than what we ultimately paid/will pay kelly

While I would love Saban,
I think the argument people make is that they wanted the opposite of Kelly and Saban isn’t the opposite because he’s also an older coach who could be coasting with retirement and the opposite would be a young/hungry coach who could relate to the players. This has been the same topic for 2 weeks now just re worded.

Normally you want the opposite, but Kelly and Saban are not even remotely the same outside of age.
There is only Saban. He is the only coach that age wouldn’t matter. I don’t see him taking it on only to coast.
