Why didn't Hillary run for POTUS in 2004?

This is a question for the old farts (boomers and up) because I was just a little WeeWee more concerned about getting a date to middle school dances than I was politics. Bill Clinton was fairly popular after he "won" his impeachment trial and when he left office. The establishment media basically worked for the Clintons. The Iraq War was turning out to not exactly be what GWB administration had sold Americans on. Surely she could have beaten Kerry in primaries. So why didn't she run?

GWB was a wartime President with a shite-ton of momentum.

Lurch was a sacrificial candidate the same as Bob Dole in '96.

Hillary had gotten into office in 2000 and it was considered too soon for her to jump from carpetbagging into a Senate seat to the presidency.

Because her only campaign point was "I was the estranged first lady for 8 years"... That wouldn't have gotten many votes at that time.

There is no underestimating how much the general public hated her in that time frame. Generally speaking she knew that 2008 was her window. Bush was still popular and the sentiment in Iraq hadn't turned quite yet. She knew that beating a war time president wasn't historically doable.

Hildebeast may be a lot of things, but she isn't stupid.

Because she had just been elected to the Senate after killing JFK Jr. Her term wasn't up until 2006.

Yeah, this is true. In 2004 Bush still had the wool pulled over people's eyes.

At that time? The democrats hated her so much that they picked a minority whose only accomplishment was giving a good convention speech as their candidate in 2008, and the American people picked a political newcomer to be POTUS in 2016. HRC has always been hated.

2004 was way closer than that map suggests. It basically came down to whoever won Ohio and Bush only won the State by like 1 or 2 points.

Uniparty.

D's get 8 years

R's get 8 years

The Clinton corruption especially with China flying their flag in our WH was too much. A woman went to jail for their whitewater scandal.

Plus it wasn't her turn.

Yeah, in other words he cheated just like he did in 2000.

Makes my stomach turn that I was heavily behind GWB back then. I will say I did enjoy the whole Swift Boat crew stuff and Kerry being caught in a lie about his military service.

Waiting for 2008 was the smart move at the time. Literally no one saw the Obama thing coming in 2004, because he wasn't even a Senator in 2002, which is when you'd make the decision on whether on campaign for 2004 or wait til 2008.

We all were, but then the alternative (Gore and/or Kerry) was worse. It's hard to fault someone for choosing the lesser of two evils when those were the only choices.

Because she was for the war before she was against it

Maybe someday people will realize there is no lesser of two evils in this deal. Bush went on to kill millions of people. Do you think Gore or Kerry would have done anything different? Nope. They all receive their orders and follow them. They're on the same frickin team.

She hadn't done much other than being first lady. She was a new Senator.

Better question is why she didn’t take the VP pick in 2004

You're right. Instead of war they would have imported them earlier than Obama and Biden. Having multiples of the amount of radical Muslims than we have now would have been so much better.

No, not really. Think it through, they have to destabilize the region before they import them. They had to create the so-called "refugee crisis" in order to get that ball rolling.

I see you people still, after all this time, don't realize they're all on the same team and following the same script. Such a shame.

Furthermore, you miss the entire point of my post.

No, what I'm saying is that it wouldn't have been better or worse. It would have been the same.
