Have any of you had any positive experiences with any of these "subscription finder" apps or websites?

I need a purge and trying to decide if I need to do a statement search or if there are any shortcuts.

It is not that hard to do it yourself.

Dang, I probably came across like Mingo or ronricks

I have trust issues letting random 3rd parties get access into my financials, that really should not have access to begin with. They are offering this service, not to benefit you, but rather themselves.

See if your bank does it? USAA I know does a semi decent job putting charges in buckets. You can change the buckets for charges coming in. Then I can just pull back bills, or entertainment, etc.

Just pull your last statement and look for subs. Most will be easy to identify. It's not a bad practice to do it a couple times a year, it isn't terribly time consuming

How many bank accounts and active credit cards do you have charges going to? After the end of every quarter, I pull a detail list of transaction into an excel/CSV file and review the transactions & categories. We do this for budgeting purposes.

Download to excel/CSV. Format the worksheet so I can create a table. From the table, I can search every "description" by company name and create a category. This should lead you to the questions you need to ask to determine if it is a subscription finder. It will also put how much you spend on stuff right in front of your face

If it is a CSV file, if you do not save as an excel file you will lose majority of your work

USAA buckets are mostly fine. They can be fine tuned, but they're my bank, so it's OK.

Rocket Money and all the rest are only there to scrape your transaction data to aggregate your consumer profile to sell it.

They make more money off of your profile than you'll save every month. Oh, OP hits Starbucks and Dutch Bros coffee every morning, which means he has a family, score, we can sell his profile to X,Y,Z. They'll know how often OP's wife hits Target a week, that she probably likes Chik Fil A because she thinks it's healthier, but also hits Crumbl twice a week for a treat. Etc.

Is this just a matter of checking your credit card monthly to see if you signed up for free credit report dot com for 29.99 a month?

I agree with Darth.

How hard is it to look at your statements and hunt down what you're paying to whom?

the number of people who willingly allow data scrapers access to the minutia of their everyday lives boggles my mind. Alexa inside the house, ring camera outside the house, AI in your checking accounts…

and then wonder where their privacy went

Everyone should pay attention to this.

You are selling your privacy because of laziness, that is not something you can get back. Do it yourself.

Best way if you do not want to put effort, get a new CC number. Just claim you CC was lost and get a new one. You will find out quick what subscriptions you have when you receive emails on not being able to process renewal.

If you were dumb enough to allow subscriptions to draft directly from bank account, just open a second account and transfer all funds over. You should be able to open multiple accounts at any bank.
