Why is it in Tampa, Fl. ?

Because it moves around from year to year...

New Orleans and Atlanta aren't the home to any SEC teams either. I've been to SEC tournaments in both of those cities.

The 2009 Southeastern Conference Men's Basketball Tournament returns to the Sunshine State for the second time in the tournament's illustrious history as the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa, Fla., plays host to the event.

Atlanta served as host of the inaugural SEC Tournament played following the 1932-33 season and did so again after the 1933-34 season. The event was held every year through 1952, with the exception of 1935. After a 26-year layoff (1953-78), the tournament was renewed in 1979. The 2008 tournament will be the 49th in league history and the 30th since the renewal.

This will be the first time the tournament has been held in the state of Florida since Orlando served as the host of the 1990 tournament.
Is there not a venue in Bama to host? I'd like to see it travel more.

No doubt, I was sitting on the floor when LSU knocked off Florida the last time N.O hosted the tournament.

Wow, we can do it in basketball, but not football.

And I don't know why. There are several venues in football that would fit. Maybe not as many as basketball, but enough.

In football, you could at least do Atlanta, Nashville, New Orleans and at least one place in Florida...

usually teams from the sec championship are playing in new orleans, orlando, or tampa a few weeks later. many fans wouldn't want to travel to the same city twice within a month.

Are they gonna play in the Hirsch?
I can see it in the Bossier Centrytel Center.
But that is funny.
