Shouldn’t we lock down AD first?

Most AD’s want to make a splash by hiring the football coach to put their stamp on the department. How big of a deal is it to the potential coaches in not knowing who they will have to work with and answer to?

That's because it looks like Verge Asbury will be our athletic director. If you can believe that at this point in time, nothing shocks me

AD requires 45 day window plus interviews. State law since it's a university position.
They could name a coach tomorrow if they wanted to.

If I’m an AD looking to not get heat immediately, I’d want the football coach in place. If the new coach is successful, great. If not, it’s not his hire so little blame shifted his way. The Jimbo Fisher/Brian Kelly picks have made Woodward look foolish overshadowing good picks for baseball and women’s bball.

That’s the law but when the hired SW I don’t think that’s how it went.

I hope to hell you’re wrong, but it would be a very “LSU” thing to do. Little Verge is gonna get pushed around by the big boy ADs of the SEC.
