Non-Doomer take on this week

A lot went down this week, and the reactions have been very loud. Understandably so.
With that said, the media (especially when politics are involved) makes everything appear worse than they are, and they live on stirring drama and headlines.
I think Landry’s comments during his conference could have been shared privately with the BOS and donors, and sharp headlines could have been avoided. With that said though.. we will hire a president next Tuesday, a new AD will be installed and we already have a committee to find a new coach.
The media cycle is short and memories even shorter… in 1 week from now, Landry won’t even be discussed any further.
As for our search committee, we have massive money people with skin in the game. This will be done correctly or the spigot gets turned off. I know these billionaires love LSU but they aren’t stupid and they don’t cut checks without some assurances of processes in place.
As for Woodward.. he did accomplish some good here but getting rid of him isn’t a death knell to the university like prominent media members are portraying.
I understand he’s the hometown guy and “one of us” but there’s clearly more to this story and I think a change in the guard may be what we need.
I have no doubt I’ll be DV’d into oblivion, but I for one am optimistic going forward. I think we get a big name and get back to being LSU again in football.

Have an upvote. This board is showing how many pansies it has on here. We’re going to hire a solid coach and a solid AD. This will pass and they will find something new to bitch about

I think you're right—things are looking up. The presser this morning helped tremendously. Just need Landry to keep his damn mouth shut, and we will be ok.

I think it all depends who we hire.
If we get a big name splash hire, it will likely be forgotten. But if people think we "settled" for a coach, Landry will be blamed for making the job less appealing and not wanting to pay money.

Landry has been quiet all day and I’m starting to see rays of sunshine starting to appear.

You really have no idea of if we are settling or not until the coach performs.
It’s equal risk that Lane or big name hire could come here and phone it in, as a lesser known name coming in here and being overwhelmed.
I think we just want the search to be exhaustive.
I think it Woodward would have done more homework on BK we likely see he wasn’t a good fit for us before we hire him.
