LSU, with Woodward, Carville, Tate, etc. had finally shed the shackles of Louisiana and Louisiana politics. They had cultivated a small group of billionaire boosters, all without any Louisiana politicians. LSU shot up the prestige ladder in the higher education world in both academics and athletics. Landry is seeing his shot to bring it back down to the old Louisiana way. What a shame.
