McNeese State's president will be LSU's next system president... let that sink in.... Landry is set to hand pick (through HIS board) the president of McNeese fricking State.

The LSU system president oversees the second largest undergraduate student body in the SEC, a law school, two medical schools, PA schools, PT schools, OT schools, numerous medical residencies, and countless PhD programs.

McNeese State has the 9th largest undergraduate student body in the Southland Conference and zero doctorate programs.

In what clown world would the McNeese State president ever be a candidate for LSU's fricking system president?
Answer: The world where a fricking coonass who gives zero fricks about LSU only cares about the strategic placement of his pawns to assist with his future political endeavors.

I'm a conservative but F this POS.

If you think Jeff Landry wants the best for LSU you have read the situation wrong.

The president just has to manage Landry's expectations. You don't need a PhD or any top tier experience for that. Pretty sure his first step will be to remove all the doctoral programs as they are bleeding money and raise undergraduate fees.

It’s not the first time we’ve seen Coonass DEI.

Orgeron had nowhere near the resume for LSU. Not even close.

We got lucky that a single miracle happened.

It’s a joke. It’s a shame. Will set the university back years.

I’ve heard that Rousse is a big supporter of athletics as a president. If you are looking at it from an academics standpoint you definitely have a good point. Has LSU ever hired a president who wasn’t previously a school president somewhere? At least he has that experience. My AI search looks like Tate was one of only 3 LSU presidents that didn’t have previous experience as a university president.

Could parlay that athletic success into university system success like Alabama did, but that requires foresight and commitment and a president not obligated to a single self-serving politician.
The fact that the legislature gave the governor, any governor, this much power is outrageous.... the university has become a pawn.

When asked about his strategy to propel LSU to the top 50 public research universities in the country, Rousse questioned whether it was truly a priority for the university. He said he would meet with faculty everyday for 30 days after taking office to determine how important it is to them.

Rousse added he wanted to be given four or five key goals from the Board of Supervisors. If attaining top-research status was among them, he would put together a team to promote research.

He also said it is necessary to increase faculty and postdoctoral research pay to improve recruitment.

While Rousse said he would encourage philanthropic giving, he believes pursuing corporate partnerships will be key to funding the university

I think the Alabama VP/Provost is the best candidate among the 3 finalist.
