Says Ole Miss might be a better situation than LSU or Florida for Lane. I wonder why the tea leaves changed in the past 24 hours?

quote:

Jobs that weren’t great jobs before are now,” Saban said. “Lane is the first name up for Florida and the first name up for LSU, but I think you can have a long debate on whether either one of those jobs is actually better than the job he has now because he has some guys over there at Ole Miss that give him pretty much whatever he wants from a roster standpoint. He may not necessarily have the same thing at Florida or LSU. So you look at these jobs differently now."

He’s not wrong. Especially with the turmoil going own with the lsu administration.

Hire Saban as AD, you’ll get him then. Maybe.

Does that mean Nick is accepting the LSU job?

I’m sure. He’s likely already told Lane in private not to go anywhere this job right now with a neutered AD, an interim President, a line-stepping governor, and 1 single donor ponying up $50 million + to fire his predecessor plus no telling how much for the new coach’s salary and everything else?

Who’s gonna be the new coach’s actual boss? Landry and Spaht? No thanks.

I truly don't understand why anyone wants Saban to be part of LSU's coaching hire process.

He doesn't have LSU's best interest in mind. Period.

I am fine with Saban coaching again at LSU, but I don't want his input in who they should hire if he's not the coach.

Kiffin is a big boy. He can decide his future for himself when the time comes.

Agreed, he giving a hint to stay put means he doesnt want a high level coach especially who can recruit top tier qbs going to LSU and beating Bama. So hey Lane, stay put. Saban showed his loyalty indirectly with that comment.

Yup. Thanks for all that he did, but you can’t trust him. Sean Payton recommended Dennis Allen and that set the Saints back half a decade.

LSU will have to settle for a no name coach, probably a coordinator. Anyone at a top program better think carefully about going to a dumpster fire.
