I think the Woodward hate needs to settle down. The guy has had slam dunk hires with Mulkey and Johnson. Both have also said how much they respect him, how he doesn’t meddle and lets them do their job. That being said, Woodward definitely screwed up on the Kelly hire by signing him 10 years. But this thing can get way worse if we have a bad AD

You’re not going to get 70% of this board to agree either way.

It’s pretty polarized at this time.

Woodward only hired Jay after he tried hiring Sully and the BOS rejected it due to what Sully was dealing with off the field.

He hired Kim who wanted to come home and be closer to her mother and was in a stale situation at Baylor. Anyone would have and could have called Mulkey and thrown money at her to return.

He blew the Wade situation and hired McMahon who's been a failure, and he hired BK to one of the worst contracts in school history

Yep and women’s basketball loses a crap load of money every year! 2024 it was 8.5 Mil it’s a terrible investment.

He wanted Sully and the BOS vetoed his arse and forced him to go with Jay. Again baseball loses money each year not at the level of WBB but it’s not a profit sport.

In the two sports that turn a profit Woody has failed. Gave O an extension when no wanted him and the Kelly hire hasn’t worked out. Men’s basketball has turned into a shite show under him.

BK was his 2nd chance. You don't get a 3rd in Tigerland

Shut up. There's no president in place, so the governor office will help guide the events leading to the search/hire.
Woodward is a clown, easily replaced....they're all replaceable, quit being a bitch

Woodard wanted O’Sullivan instead of J. And Kim is from 30 minutes down the road you really think that was hard of a sell?

Woodward has messed up his last 2 football hires. He screwed up the men's basketball hire.

Mulkey was a no brainer.

I will give you Jay Johnson.

Woodward should be gone. Why would one keep an AD who can't be trusted in hiring the most important coach on campus?

Well, you’ve contradicted yourself here. The BOS ultimately has the power. Or at least more than the AD. (Boosters probably have more power than the BOS). BOS—or boosters who were the ones who would have to fund “one of the worst contracts in school history”—could have vetoed Kelly and his contract terms at any time before signing. They didn’t.

Woodward presents a candidate. President/BOS/Boosters say YES/NO/What would it take? Woodward negotiates with candidate’s agent. “It would take ___ to get ___.” President/BOS/Boosters say “terms are acceptable—yes.”’or “No. Move on to next candidate.” Clearly, everybody said “Yes, the terms —and candidate—are acceptable.” Remember all that talk about alignment
when BK was hired? That wasn’t just him and Woodward. It was him, Woodward, Tate, the BOS, boosters, and probably JBE to some extent.

Suggesting Woodward went rogue and went out and signed BK to that contract by himself is absurd. Several people more powerful than him had to all sign off.

He gave the NCAA Wade so they not to punish football.

We're playing semantics here. My point is that Woodward's "successes" should be viewed in the right context. Jay wasn't his first guy, and his first guy may be on leave right now like he is at Florida.

And you can blame the BOS for BK's contract too, but Woody was part of what will be looked at as an abject failure of a hire.

Yeah, I know you're just regurgitating things you've heard without any evidence, but there's no reason why I have to choose to believe that statement is accurate.

Also, even if it were true, let's not pretend that we are in an era of college sports where the NCAA is at the peak of its power and can strong-arm schools into compliance

Woodward isn’t bigger than LSU. I think that’s the point he made to Moffitt when he let him go. Woody was correct then and it’s correct now.
