He has power and some influence but at the end of the day if he pushes too far the money boosters will dry up his money and he will be yesterday's news. Landry is bigger in his mind than he thinks. He has been a disappointment and will have a difficulty getting reelected if he interferes with coach hiring process.

The people on the board play the politics game with Landry. There is some cause for concern. I don't think Landry will do anything too politically goofy because LSU football drives a massive amount of revenue for the university/city, but he has shown that he will do dumb shite for the sake of being talked about on national media.

Yes. Advice to Landry would be to take the buyout win and exit gracefully, stage left.

The boosters that hire LSU coaches also bankrolls Landry.

Landry was called into BOS meeting, not the other way around

I understand your point but LSU is almost being remade entirely in his image, for lack of better words.

It'll be his BOS and his president that will decide on an AD and the new coach. There's many other things he's been doing at LSU since he got elected that also go along those same lines, like replacing the head of the law school (I believe it was the law school).

To act like he's not a big part of this next hire is a little naive. It might not be him directly, but it'll be everyone he's appointed.

IMO, it's not a good thing that he's having so much influence on LSU. As far as governors go, he's about as incompetent as one can get.

1) He is the reason we don’t have a president.

2) there is an acting/interim president

3) There was a LSU president when he forced Omar the Tiger for a publicity stunt.

You are out of your mind if you think he wouldn’t be sticking himself in front of cameras either way. This guy just wants the spotlight.

I think he was always probably going to get involved.

He needs to just shut his mouth and worry about the actual problems of the state. Why would any coach worth their salt want to put up with any of this BS?

He is getting torched in the media right now, so my hope is that his comms team is showing him the backlash he is getting for his comments and he at least won't say anything more about it in public.
