I think with Shough Starting Now… It Essentially Assures Saints get Top 2 Pick in 2026.

Shough may have some basic raw skills but he needs many many reps in live action so he can learn the pro game.
Also, the fact that he stands in the pocket like a statue…with this offensive line… he’ll learn very quickly that throwing the ball out of bounds is a good thing.
Look… it will get very ugly… very quickly.
But this had to happen sooner or later as the investment in his selection was very STEEP !!!!!
He has to get on the field in 2025.
Many games remaining in the season.

There are no Franchise QBs available in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Just sit back the remainder of the season and watch Shough continuously pick himself off the ground from vicious sacks as he tries to read defenses behind Saints OL

1) That Loomis finally trades back in the draft for extra draft picks.
2) The Saints Scouting Department finally learns their jobs.
3) The Saints can land that 4th rd Compensatory pick in 2026 ; just sit Yiadom (cb).
4) Saints trade a veteran player before the trade deadline for yet another extra draft pick in 2026.
5) Despite the Saints many Administrative and Scouting deficiencies… the Saints hopefully find 4-5 Starting players in the 2026 Draft.

Saints play bunch of bad teams in 2nd half of season. We might win a handful and fall out of the top 5. Which would be fine, get some momentum going into 2026. I don’t see any value in top pick this upcoming draft.

Mendoza specifically is light years better than Cam Ward who went 1 last year. We should want to get a pick high enough to get him.

My problem with Mendoza :
Has he played Quality Competition so he can be adequately evaluated.
I don’t think weve seen him enough against quality opponents.
* The CFP Playoff will be HUGE for him !!!
He could either make himself a great deal of money or … wither on the vine !!!!

I think the wise thing to do is let Shough prove himself if he is not the guy the team will draft the best available qb .
