When do we really have to have a coach named?

I personally do not think having to wait on the playoffs to be over is a deal-killer. Thoughts?

Early signing day (HS) is December 3rd
The transfer portal opens Jan. 2 and closes Jan 16. There is no "spring portal"
Your HS signees (at least the highly recruited) ones will want to know who they would be signing to play for.
The current players on your team would like to know who they would be playing for.
If LSU waits until the end of the CFP, it runs the risk of having a pretty depleted roster going into next season.

Waiting is dangerous if you miss on your target. By that time, most of the top options will be signed somewhere or renegotiated with their current school, effectively taking them out of the pool of candidates

Some of yall act like Kiffin is the only Coach we would possibly want to go after that could make the playoffs, which is not going to be the case. If we hire before the playoff, that means we have no chance at playoff caliber coaches in the system currently. We’re best to sit tight. We’ll figure out the players eventually. I’d much rather plan for the future long-term than worry about next year recruiting class. That’s much more important in my mind.

Whenever the team our coach is coaching for currently, plays their last game. Then we'll know.
