6-7-8 Deal

Should be the base contract. And honestly the NCAA or even the government needs to rein this in and standardize at least base contracts. Schools can differentiate and lure with incentives for winning.
Sure, football is “self sustaining” in most cases. But they still need the university as a whole to exist, and be popular to have a team in the first place. And the university takes a lot of taxpayer money for them to simply exist. Okay, so the contract.
6 years
7 million base salary
8 million in incentives per year, staggering with the max being a NC win, but a bonus for each playoff win, player awards, etc.
So, you want to be the highest paid coach. Earn it, up to 15 million per year.
This way, after 3.5-4 years, worse case scenario is your cutting a check for sub 20 million. And honestly. Coaches should be fired for losing without pay. But, baby steps.

The NCAA can’t do this legally. I disagree wholeheartedly that the government needs to regulate this.

I disdain the government and regulation as much as the next, but these schools are taking money and not being good stewards with it. It’s reckless, especially at a time when these schools are headed towards being completely antiquated. They’re about to be sports complexes with classes instead of universities with sports teams.

Is there a 9-9-9 deal?

Coaching contracts should be no longer than 5 years. Any longer and you are just asking for problems.
